You may like to visit the Roman Legionary Museum at Caerleon (Isca).

Isca was one of three permanent legionary fortresses in Britain. The Romans arrived here at Isca in AD74, and it became the third most important province of Roman Christianity after Canterbury and York. One legion (six thousand men) was stationed here.

Here you can learn what made the Romans such a formidable force, how they marched and prepared for battle and even which jewels they wore.

Admission is free and children (and adults?) can have fun dressing up in Roman costumes.
